Wedding theme trends
People talk about current wedding trends so we have put together this handy guide to give you both inspiration and knowledge.
Boho is short for Bohemian. A Bohemian Wedding Theme takes elements of a hippie, nomad, and gypsy lifestyle and using artistic flair creates an eclectic mix. Mix and match items are brought together to create the theme in a relaxed way. Wedding gowns are a more relaxed fit. The latest take on this theme is boho luxe – relaxed elements with sparkle!
A destination simply means a wedding that is overseas. From New Zealand we are so lucky to have the Pacific Islands so close and offering complete packages. A destination wedding typically means the beach and the biggest requirement for the gown is that it travels well and still looks fabulous! The them is sun, sand and sea.
A countryside or farm wedding. For New Zealand they are predominantly rural farm weddings. Rustic means simplicity of elements that have a nod to natural materials, think hessian and twine. Recycle d and upcycled props. A rustic wedding gown can be any gown that suits the brides taste. Rustic can go one of two ways – Shabby Chic or Country hoe down.
Southern Lakes Weddings
How lucky are we in New Zealand that we have one of the most amazing dramatic landscapes on our doorstep. Fast becoming a destination for international brides as well, the South Island offers fabulous photo opportunities and beautiful venues. The wedding gown can be whatever suits the brides taste, but we don’t think you can go past something with high drama to mirror the location.
Vintage means anything over 50 years old. So no one vintage wedding looks like another. It could be a 20’s theme – Great Gatsby and flapper style. 30’s an 40’s offer up Deco and Big Band style. 50’s and 60’s call out to Audrey Hepburn and wide skirts. Will the next theme be the 70’s – we have heard mention of Neon being the next big thing. The wedding gown will have a nod to the vintage era being celebrated.
