Charlotte and Ashley’s Gorgeous Garden Wedding

Charlotte and Ashley tied the knot on 11 December 2015 at Ataahua Garden Venue in Tauranga. Ash and Charlotte didn’t have a theme per say, but Charlotte works in the homewares industry and has contemporary aesthetic that she likes. This is reflected in the pretty, modern design of their special day.

This couple had the sweetest engagement story…

After eight (short) months of seeing each other Ash told me that he had a surprise date night planned. The Saturday night came and he called me five minutes before date night to say he wasn’t able to pick me up and there was a taxi outside. I walked outside and my parents, who live in Wellington, were there in a car. They drove me just down the road in Herne Bay, Auckland and dropped me outside a gorgeous, rustic boat shed. I walked inside and there were fairy lights everywhere. Ash dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes; we popped the champagne and in walked my parents. It was divine. He followed it up with dinner at Sugarclub and a high tea at the Langham the next day. Yep, he’s a keeper!

Mt Maunganui is a very special place for the Ash and I. We live in Auckland and spend a lot of time there. We got married at The Mount because Ash’s dad lives there and my parents have a bach there. Our ceremony was in the very romantic, walled garden. We then moved outside to the outdoor bar and garden area where there was petanque and croquet for the guests to play. Dinner was in the permanent marquee and dancing was upstairs in the gorgeous dance hall. You just can’t beat Ataahua, especially on a sunny December day like ours.

Advice for future brides

Just enjoy it! The day has so many amazing moments so make sure you take every single one in. Delegate all the organising on the day so you can sit back and enjoy with your husband, bridesmaids, friends and family.
