NZ Bride & Groom Wedding Dress Competition Winner
Meaghan & Richard
‘Lucky’ can’t even begin to describe how incredibly blessed this bride was for her wedding day!
In conjunction with NZ Bride and Groom magazine we give away a wedding dress to one lucky bride each year. And Meaghan was our 2017 winner.
Meaghan chose the stunning Maggie Sottero ‘Nola’ gown which was absolute perfection on small frame.
“When I won my gown from a Bride and Groom Magazine competition, there were definitely happy tears! At my appointment, after narrowing down the hundreds of beautiful dresses at Astra Bridal Auckland salon, I was left with a top three. It was such a hard decision that I had to come back another day so I could sleep on it. Yet in the end I couldn’t have been happier with the Maggie Sottero dress, in the style Nola.”
But when we asked Meaghan more about the different vendors at her wedding, she gave us an amazing list of very talented friends and family who took care of each part!
Her hair, done by her good friend and hair dresser Sherrie Moleta. Her makeup, done by her sister-in-law - the makeup artist behind Beau Monde Beauty in Pukekohe. The bouquets and buttonholes were created by her work colleagues and her cake was also created by her work colleague Georgia Groom of Hey Babycakes NZ. Not to mention the wedding stationary being completed by her talented husband.
“I’ve realised that every one of these questions I’ve answered with one friend or another. We truly utilised all our wonderful friends and family members talents to bring this wedding together. People are always so willing to help, that’s the beauty of weddings, they bring people together.”
The talented photographers Stephan and Nakita captured this beautiful day at Bridgewater Estate in Kaukapakapa, Auckland and created beautiful photos that Meaghan and Richard will be able to treasure for a lifetime!
“My favourite part of the day was the prep! The morning of the wedding was so fun and relaxed. I was surrounded by my closest girl friends and sisters (even the hair and makeup ladies were friends.) The weather in the morning was beautiful, opening the French doors to our air bnb letting the sun pour in as we got pampered – bliss!”
“Its so hard to choose a favourite part of the gown, but in the end I’d have to say; the insanely beautiful lace on the hem and train. It has these big panels of lace which were scalloped on the hem which then blended as they went up the skirt. As I am five foot, when getting the dress fit to my size, I certainly made sure we wouldn’t lose any of that lace! A close second favourite would be the fit, because the fabrics are so light weight, it falls so beautifully, hugging my body perfectly.”
“We wanted the feel of our wedding to be relaxed and romantic. That’s the reason for having the ceremony and reception at the same venue, so once people arrived they could settle into a nice evening surrounded by friends and family. Bridgewater Estate was perfect for this as they had a number of seated areas which gave people some space to breathe and relax.”
“Most of all we wanted our guests to be surround by love and romance. Wanted them to feel love in every detail of the wedding, like a warm blanket surrounding them!”
