Rosa's wonderful family cultural wedding
Here is Rosa’s gorgeous story…
25 Jan marked our 10 year anniversary so we legally got married on that day informally with our Celebrant Aaron and a handful of close family. However on the 28 Jan we had our "actual" wedding and then following that, to honour our Tongan culture, we had our customary "First Sunday"
Where did you get married?
We got married in Orakei Bay as I grew up in Orakei and Orakei has, and will always be, home to me. When my husband and I went to the Open Day they held, we knew it was the right place for us. I was getting married at ‘home’. It was the first venue we went to view; needless to say, we didn’t have to look any further.
We didn’t really have a theme. Mint and Peach was my colour scheme and so we just went off those colours. My dress was ivory so Lani matched me with his tie. Like my dress, I wanted to create a feeling of elegance.
Favourite wedding day moment?
There were so many! But I’d say it was when Lani and I had our first dance. Lani is so shy - we have been together for ten years and he has never danced with me, ever. When we got called to go for our first dance, he was so confident, grabbed my hand and said “let’s go babe!” and lead me to the dance floor.
Why did you choose your dress?
I tried on two dresses before I tried on ‘the one’. I just knew I had to get it. I loved the fit and the lace was beautiful. I felt beautiful in my dress, that’s why I chose it.
Favourite part of the dress?
I love the train and the lace embroidery and detailing.
What made your Astra Bridal experience special?:
I went with my Maid of Honour and my God-daughter and seeing the expressions on their faces when I was wearing the dress just solidified my decision. I'm quite shy when it comes to my body but my consultant at Astra Bridal made me feel so comfortable which was really great.
Advice for future brides
